More Than Me - August 15th

There’s “more” to this group than there is to most other bands. While, on the surface, their material and personas may convey a party-like good time and easy-going attitude, underneath lies a seriousness and dedication to making songs that are at the top of their ability. And it’s quite evident that the foursome known as MORE THAN ME embody an undeniable talent and accessibility that is a rare commodity in today’s music world. Based out of Buffalo, N.Y., the band’s Power Pop/Rock/Reggae sound allows them the freedom to play a wide variety of venues: from the most intimate acoustic coffee house, to clubs packed with hundreds of excited listeners, to 10,000 person festivals. Voted “Best Original Rock Band” by the WNY Peoples Choice Awards.

Miles Steibel - August 22nd
Miles Steibel and his band will have you groovin’ to his unique blend of smooth jazz and world rock, playing original music and terrific arrangements of classic hits.  As heard on smooth jazz stations nationally his music will entertain you with hummable melodies and a spirited rhythm section. As a musician and band leader, Miles Stiebel is one of the most requested entertainers for social, corporate, political and special events in the Washington, DC area as well as along the East Coast. He has played for State and Presidential Inaugural Galas, performing for events for President Bush, President Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, Bob Dole, and Colin Powell.

Jah Works - August 29th
The foundation of Jah Works is based on a love and respect for Jamaican music and culture. It is the sentiment which gave birth to Jah Works and has become the thread which has kept them together for 11 years and counting. While their music is clearly more “reggae” than any other style, as natives they’ve always added their own flavor to the mix.

Bikes Are Prohibited on Gum Spring Road

August 2, 2008 by David · Leave a Comment

Not talking about you Harley riders… You cyclists! Do you have any idea how dangerous this road is?

Do you think you could find a more appropriate place to get your biking miles in? Oh, and if the guy who yelled at my dog for barking at him and scaring him nearly off his bike is reading… BIKE SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Our dog, Pooch, rules this property. He’s killed and chased away wild animals for us for over 10 years now. He minds his own business and puts up with 10,000 cars driving by every day. Who can blame him for getting a little excited when someone goes by at a speed that he can handle!?

So effective immediately bicycles are prohibited on Gum Spring Road. Pooch will enforce the rules. These rules are for your safety. Did you know that trucks comprise a higher percent of the traffic on Gum Spring Road at over 20% then on any other state highway in Virginia? There just isn’t enough room for trucks, cars, and bikes. Sorry.

Here’s a recent article about the increasing number of incidents occurring between cyclists and the drivers they interfere with. Tension Rife Among Cyclists and Drivers. Apparently Gum Spring Road isn’t the only place where your biking is considered unsafe.
